Study Group

We are currently reformulating Study Group to go deeper with a variety of subjects.

Our new calendar of Study Group sessions will be published in March 2019. Please check our Facebook Page for upcoming CRC events
in the meantime!

Study group is a series of sessions that we organize to further collective knowledge-building around mental health and healing justice. Study group is always open to the public, and usually includes required reading, but we encourage interested parties to join us regardless of their experience with a given text or film.

Through a variety of readings, workshops, and films, we question the politics and medicalization of mental health. These conversations inform the collective’s programs, tools, and actions as we crowdsource ideas to guide the next century of care in Philadelphia.

This program is in collaboration with Health Ecologies Lab at Slought.
Please review our community agreements before joining a study group session.

Trigger warning: Please note that our mental health study group conversations usually contain descriptions of personal, second hand, and/or collective experiences of trauma, including addiction, suicide, self-harm, extreme states, histories of psychiatric care (hospitalizations, medications), eating disorders, and violence. Please prioritize your self-care and contact CRC organizers at any time with questions or concerns about upcoming content or to check in after an event. If this study group is not a good fit for your current needs, know that your participation in shaping CRC’s work is not limited to this particular project.
